You will find many squares, I think famous for 5 public squares. SquaresSquares of Gràcia are known to live the day and night. Learn about the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona

Barcelona.

I first felt astonished to hear that there is a district with the name “Gothic Quarter” or what is known as the “Barri Gotic” in Barcelona. I did mention feeling as if I was thrown into a very old theater, well wait until you get to walk in this neighborhood. It sure is theater, with its smoky themed walls, and medieval street lights. Truly breath-taking experience.  Bar restaurant at the Gothic quarterTraffic jamThe longest stretch from La Rambla, easy to walk to and walk through. This is old Barcelona, with buildings that date back to the Medieval time and some even back from the Roman settlement. Cathedral of BarcelonaOId doorThe small streets of the Gothic Quarter lead you yo hidden squares where most of the bars are at and the night scene is cozy and alive. You can find local bands playing sometimes, and setting are mostly very romantic, in the dark with candlelight’s. El Bari Gotic

Each square has a story of its own, I was not lucky enough to have locals travel with me through the streets, but I would defiantly recommend you find someone who has historical stories and background on each neighborhood which I feel will very much widen your imagination. BarcelonaGothicJust take your bike and wander between the tiny streets in and out of La Rambla across Barri Gotic, look into shops, and spend a memorable night out from one place to another.Cycling at the gothic quarterGothic quarter

About Sant Antoni. A neighborhood, Loved by Barcelonans.

Full post Barcelona.

This neighborhood is one of my favorite in Barcelona. Right in the Eixample district, named after the marketplace designed by Antoni between the 1872 and 1882. St-Antoni-2The market was not really operating when I was there, I think it is under construction. But there were several markets happening around the neighborhood.

Brunch is maybe the most important meal in Sant Antoni, therefore you will find several cute hipster little shops that will call upon you as “see me, I am different”.

I recommend you try the eggs with spinach at Federal Cafe A very cool brunch and cafe in BarcelonaI loved the concept of the window seating that you will find in several other shops around the area. Federal Cafe serves great coffee and desert as well. Carrot cake map camera and a coffeeWIFI is also available in most shops, and they are great to work from, read, mingle with friends, or just enjoy the food. A very cool brunch and cafe in BarcelonaAnother place I recommend visiting is Cafe Cometa a beautiful interior of an urben cafeA little more artsy, with many graphic prints on the wall, also very similar to the style that Federal Cafe offers, Brunch and Dessert that you will find hard to choose from the menu. Cometa CafeThis is a very cute little place with two floors. They have divided the WIFI section on the second floor for people who are there to work, and those who are just enjoying their food and friends in the ground level. Cometa CoffeeI then defiantly recommend Cafe Taranna which is also a great night out for Tapas, not to forget mentioning that most of these shops have a beautiful cute atmosphere at night to hang out and enjoy. A very cool brunch and cafe in BarcelonaAs mentioned before, the seating is very casual, hip and fun. The music is also selected with taste along with the friendly atmosphere and service. Cometa CafeI have something for interior design, or more like something for anything that beautifully different. CafeAll things pretty on my list of to see and try.Cometa CoffeeThen if you are a sugar lover, you must not miss on the most amazing donuts … Colorful and great looking donutsVisit and try the Donuteria, with their exquisite selection of donut flavors that you have never came across before. DonuteriaI am pretty sure Sant Antoni will not let you down, day or night. Just go there for a walk, and you will come across a very cool atmosphere that will just call you in for a good morning or evening. Saint Antoni MarketHistory mixed with today’s creativity is all it takes to create something that is never to be forgotten. Barcelona Architecture is a prime Cirque houseBarcelona Architecture is a primeBarcelona Architecture is a primeTake me back to BARCELONA.

Montjuic

About Montjuic

Barceloneta

About the coastline

Have you been to Montjuïc, Barcelona ?

Barcelona.

Everywhere we go, we sometimes need a short nature escape.

In Barcelona, you can find this at the hill-top of “Montjuic” which overlooks the harbour. Surrounded by greenery, and a site that is so fresh and clean brings peace into you. You can do some sports there if you wish to jog, run or walk.

You will get to see the castle of Montjuic that dates back to the 17th contrary. The castle used to be a prison for politicians and later was used for executions.

In the evening, you can look for the light and music show at the Magic Fountain of Montjuic which I heard should not be missed. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to watch the show, but hopefully I will do that on my next visit. 🙂

Here are things to do at Barcelona Beaches, Spain.

2- There is a jogging/Cycling track along the coastline, so rent a bicycle and take a ride by Barcelona’s coastline. Bicycles

12 things to do and see in Barcelona…

For the full post via Barcelona.

As a Middle-Eastern, Barcelona reminded me so much of Beirut. The small streets, the big old buildings, balconies that are too close to one another, faded paint, old posters, relaxed and happy people, let loose and live. Barcelona is a city full of life, laughter and free spirits.

Transportation is very easy, you can walk, take a bicycle, or use public transportation. I went by foot and used the hop on hop off bus for one day, and then i rented a bicycle and used it throughout my visit. It is very easy to go around, and all the areas are connected. Streets are bicycle friendly and the people are great and helpful.

Areas to visit: The Beaches, Parc Muntjuic, La Rambla, Catalunya Square, Saint Antoni, El Raval, Gothic Quarter, El Born, Gracia, La Segrada Familia, Parc Guell, and Tibidabo. For shopping you can try the Diagonal street.Bikes in Barcelona

1- Beaches – La Vila Olimpica

The Beaches are divided into small beach squares along the coastline, so you can bicycle starting with Barceloneta down to La Nova Mar Bella.

**For Food & Drinks: Visit Surf House located around Barceloneta and have a Paella in one of the restaurants.Barceloneta

On your way up La Rambla, you will find one of Barcelona’s main attractions “Columbus Monument” constructed in 1888 in honor to Columbus first visit to America. Columbus Monument2- Parc Montjuïc

You can go up the mountain from Port de Olimpica. It is a long walk, but a fun one. You can find buses to take you up as well. Parc Montjuic is magical. It is a get away from the city. A great escape to nature and a great way to reconnect. Spend a day exploring. The sunsets on the other side of the mountain, but you should defiantly try the teleferic and do not miss the Magic Fountain light show at night. Montjuic fountain

3- Saint Antoni – Within the boarders of Eixample

I love this neighborhood. So much art is in it and so many findings. It is fun to walk anytime during the day, and you will find so many beautiful shops that will call upon you. It is mostly alive on Sundays, and the vibe is very cool. The food is delicious and you will love brunching during the day and tapas during evening time.

**For Food & Drinks: Visit Federal Cafe, Cafe Cometa, La Dunateria, & Taranna Cafe.Saint Antoni Market

4- El Raval

El Raval is a beautiful full of life area that includes many scattered shops next to one another. You can reach El Ravel by walking from Saint Antoni and you can easily reach the center of Catalunya square and La Rambla that also takes you down to the beach side. El Raval is an area to spend a day in and find exquisite shops in. It is vibrant day and night.

**Recommended: Chok Chocolate House, Caravelle “the food is great and try their amazing muffin”, Satans Coffee Corner.Making chocolate

5- Catalunya Square & La Rambla

Tourists love this area. It is the center of downtown of Barcelona. It is where all the touristic transportations start and end from. The street of La Rambla is filled with people day and night. Filled with restaurants and shops targeting as many tourists as possible. You can find your hop on hop off bus from there, and any other form of transportation to and from anywhere. You can also find one of the biggest museums MACBA “Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art”.

**Recommended: Shop at Natura and Once upon a Time both are my very favorite. Check out one of the biggest open markets La Boqueria, and visit MACBA for art admirers.La Rambla and Catalunya Down Town Barcelona

6- El Barri Gottic

The longest stretch from La Rambla, easy to walk to and walk through. It really is the Gothic Quarter, the buildings, the details and everything about this neighborhood take you back to Old Barcelona. This area is so Medieval it feels like theater, tourists love it and it is always packed with people. Scattered with shops, easy to bicycle through and is very loud and busy during the night.old building night time gothic quarter

7- El Born

By the end of Gothic Quarter, you will reach El Born, A posh area filled with high fashion brands and local designers. Artistic and edgy, filled with galleries and museums, cocktails and tapas. Enjoy a shopping day and a fancy night out.El Born Shop

8- Gracia

Maybe my favorite or second favorite area in Barcelona. This area is the place to hang out during the day and find treasures in local shops. It is bohemian, with lots of shops and restaurants, music and culture. I recommend you start and end with Gracia during your visit.

**Recommended shops: Aska Dinya “for the best Palestinian food and atmosphere”, Bicioci “to work, read or write”, Nabucco Tiramisu “best coffee and dessert”, Kibuka “for great sushi”, and walk Carre de Verdi “a beautiful street for great finds”.Door and wall in Barcelona Gracia

9- La Sagrada Familia

Breathtaking is the least I can say, the closer you get to see it the more astonished you will feel. The architecture is unbeatable, it has been under construction since 1852 that is more than 100 years of construction and still going. Expecting it to be ready by 2028. Designed by the legendary Antoni Gaudi, this is one of the best architecture I have ever seen. Close up photo of the details of the church La Segrada Familia in Barcelona

10-  Parc Guell

A reality escape. It is a little up a steep hill called “Carmel Hill”, a work out if you are going by foot but a fun one if the weather is nice. Parc guell is located right above Gracia and is in an area that is lavished with old houses built even before the 1900. Worth looking them up if you are into architecture and old houses. The Parc was built between the 1900 and 1914. It was made a public park in 1926 and was constructed by the famous Antoni Gaudi inspired by organic shapes found in nature. Gaudi’s house is also located at Parc Guell and is part of the tour when you visit. Gaudi parc guell barcelona

11- Tibidabo

Barcelona Amusement Park, located at one of the top hills of Barcelona, overlooking the best sunset view & Barcelona City. This is not just the perfect place to enjoy the day with your family, friends or self but it is also a park not to be missed. Built in 1905 over 100 years old and is still working. You can take a bus from the Catalunya square that takes you directly to the park.Amusement park in Barcelona

12- Architecture

Last but not least, Barcelona is best for architectural discovery. From Antoni Gaudi one of the best architects in the world to ancient architects am not familiar with, Barcelona is full of wonders. The history, the creativity, the art, the passion, the details, the love is found in the constructions of their housing.

** Look out for any open houses: Sometimes they open old houses and buildings for visitors to check them out. And make sure you look for the Islamic Art inspired housing. Islamic Architecture used to be fashionable.Old houses and architecture in Barcelona by Gaudi and others

Zürich.

In less than 24 hours, Voted as my favorite city in the World

Zürich is like a dream land, it is like entering a big Hamleys shop only made in the 1500. It is a true toy city. Art is everywhere, in everything you look at, or at least that is how I describe it.

I didn’t get the chance to explore it as much as I wanted to do, but I was told it is small and easy to explore.

1- Lake Zürich

Zürich is the largest city in Switzerland, and is surrounded by Lake Zürich, which you will get to see from wherever you are at in Zürich.

2- Roam around Altstadt

Zurich is divided into 12 districts and Altstadt is the 1st district of Zürich and is the center, the old town. It is divided into 4 parts: Rathaus, Hochschulen, Lindenhod and City.

3- Learn about the Guild Houses

Or what are also known as Zunfte which stand for the association with artisans or merchants who control a practice of their craft in a particular town. In Zurich under the system in 1336 with the “guild revolution” of Rodlf Burn.

In Zürich, you will find things you have never seen elsewhere. This city is full of treasures. Full of unique items, and can’t wait to go again and walk into each shop.
