A little bit about my first day in Tripoli – Lebanon | عن رحلتي في طرابلس لبنان

Old, authentic, and a great exploration. I spent my first day in Tripoli just browsing around the city to take a glimpse of what it is about. Just to estimate the amount of time I need to explore, and it sure is one of those cities that need at least a good week to find the best of the best inside out. It has so much to offer, but things are a little buried under.

In my photos you will first see a great spacious exhibition area that used to hold alot of concerts in the past and theater shows. Today it is used as an automobile exhibition. We then went for a quick roam around the old city of Tripoli, where the market is, and the old mosques and churches reside. The architecture in Tripoli is brilliant, you will see the Islamic art, the arabesque, the Ottomans, very similar to architecture resemblance found in old Palestine.

We then had lunch at one of the most popular restaurants “Akra”, that can be visited for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. It serves traditional dishes of Tripoli and the Middle East like; Hummus, Fatet Hummus and Fool. After which we walked towards “Khan al Saboun” Soap house to shop for some hand made authentic soaps that are made with lavender, rose, olive oil and more scents and herbal spices. We then went for some Arabic ice-cream from the Mina area as we enjoyed watching one of the most beautiful sunsets to take place ever.

Best part of the day was the evening of it, we ended it at one of the most famous arabian desert making shop “Al Halab”, we had knafeh with chocolate and some lahmeh bajeen. Delicious.

About a mountainous town in Lebanon… Ehden | عن قرية جبلية في لبنان، اهدن

I spent a beautiful day at this gorgeous breezy northern village in Lebanon, Ehden. It truly is beautiful, breathtaking, has so much to explore although it is also very tiny. Woke up to a beautiful mountain view, and the scent of food making, preparations for their traditional dish “Kibbeh Mashwieh / Lebanese Kibbeh / Grilled Kibbeh”.

We started our day by heading towards a church that is situated at the tip of the mountain “Saydat Al Hoson Church” on a sunday morning, enjoyed the sound of the prayers, and the beautiful view. As we drove back out, we passed by this beautiful massive antique building that today is a police station, and I couldn’t resist but ask for them to park the car, as I took the chance to walk around and enjoy the true treasures in the village. The windows are an absolute admiration, the stone houses are gorgeous, the colors of the doors are inspiring.

We then headed towards another relatives house as we had some ka’ak with dates/ajwa and tea, overlooked Ehden from the roof, overlooking the famous ancient Ketel Church Mar Jerjes. Then we decided to walk back home again to enjoy the very last bits of the village, as we arrived to the ready home-made Kibbeh Mishweh for a late lunch.

Places to see in Ehden: Midan, Ketel Church Mar Jerjes, Kobra stairs, Ssydet el Hoson church, Saraya, Sama Ehden Autostrad, Bowayda, Nabeh’ Jouit

A day on the road… in Lebanon | بين شوارع لبنان

There is nothing more beautiful than exploring, traveling and road tripping.

So here I am in the lands of Lebanon, we first arrived to Beirut airport and from there, we started driving up towards Tripoli. Between the old architecture, blue sea and skies, we drove. We entered Tripoli that smelled like authenticity, old tall buildings scattered one next to the other, it looks very much like Barcelona. What is so beautiful about the Middle-eastern old architecture is the art that is incorporated with it.

The heat in Tripoli was incredible, it was too humid and too hot, we had home-made Lahmeh Bajeen and Cordon bleu for lunch, and continued our road trip more to the north towards a mountain village called Ehden. Breezy and cool, the weather transformation is magical, an hour drive away and the weather is the complete opposite. Luckily, we arrived at sunset, got mesmerized by the view, had halloumi cheese for dinner, and started the walk around the tiny little town that never sleeps during the summer.

Free yourself & start flying

“You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.” Rumi –

I agree… What do you think?

Visit the mountains from time to time… Let your soul vanish and fly in between what the eyes alone can not see… Be you within yourself let go of all fear and burdens, let go of whatever is holding you back from flying… Free yourself let yourself be as free as it was born & created let it all be within the Divine trust in the higher power let go of your tiny possessions…

Morning Diary: Visiting the most beautiful: Haifa and a Palestinian artist and architect in neighboring village | اليوم التاسع: زيارتي الى اجمل مدينة في العالم “حيفا” و زيارت بيت الفنان الفلسطيني احمد كنعان في قرية طمرة

April 29, 2015 Yes, it has been almost one month, since I was able to sit and upload my photos, and work on a new blog post of my unforgettable trip to Palestine, while it is still under the occupation of Israel. Yes, I believe one day, the occupation will be over, and people will live in peace, Palestinians will get their right of return, and the land stops being mistreated with racism and discrimination. I hope I live to witness the change of love. A short trip to Haifa, and the photos below is just a sneak peek of what Haifa is all about, I will be uploading more on Haifa in my upcoming posts, Haifa can not be well described, because as much as you try to describe its beauty, you fail to achieve it. Yes, this is how much Haifa is beautiful, and what is more beautiful, is how much the people of Haifa love Haifa. Arabs, Muslims, Christians, and Jews, both whom consider themselves Palestinian or Israelis, are all obsessively in love with Haifa. The only main problem about Haifa, is that it has lost it’s very original real citizens or what are also known for “El Haifawieh”. The city is no longer lived by its native citizens, but instead is lived by immigrants from across the world and people from all over the rest of occupied Palestine. Which is pretty sad, because without the real citizens, you lose value of the real culture and rituals. So a call out from Haifa: “Ya Haifawieh, Wenkom?” “To the true people of Haifa, Where are you?” What I have also admired the most about Haifa, is entering the city. A splash of magical emotions just storm right into you. You feel you have suddenly arrived somewhere very very special. A place where you do not need to speak any longer, but instead you only want to listen. I then decided to go visit a friend in a village right next to Haifa, Tamra. I was very lucky, to accept this invitation and meet one of the most admiring family ever. I unfortunately was not fortunate enough to meet with the Artist who is the father of 4 talented kids. But I think I was lucky enough to meet them, meet his mother who is also their grandmother, and be nourished by his art and work. As soon as I got to his home, I remembered Barcelona, Parc Guell, Gaudi, and I was right, Ahmad Kanaan, the artist, is very much inspired by Gaudi, and his work is just as inspiring.

Learn about the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona

Barcelona.

I first felt astonished to hear that there is a district with the name “Gothic Quarter” or what is known as the “Barri Gotic” in Barcelona. I did mention feeling as if I was thrown into a very old theater, well wait until you get to walk in this neighborhood. It sure is theater, with its smoky themed walls, and medieval street lights. Truly breath-taking experience.  Bar restaurant at the Gothic quarterTraffic jamThe longest stretch from La Rambla, easy to walk to and walk through. You can find local bands playing sometimes, and setting are mostly very romantic, in the dark with candlelight’s. El Bari Gotic

Each square has a story of its own, I was not lucky enough to have locals travel with me through the streets, but I would defiantly recommend you find someone who has historical stories and background on each neighborhood which I feel will very much widen your imagination. BarcelonaGothicJust take your bike and wander between the tiny streets in and out of La Rambla across Barri Gotic, look into shops, and spend a memorable night out from one place to another.Cycling at the gothic quarterGothic quarter
